Steve Wright is a musician and artist living on the beautiful Oregon Coast. He began by fabricating one-of-a-kind guitar stands and drum racks then turned his focus on creating truly artistic sculptures fabricated from repurposed materials such as metal, wood, and plastic. Steve picks items from junk yards, swap meets, antique, used tool, and building material stores then combines them with different materials such as driftwood and plastic marine debris from area beaches, rocks, glass, and other items to create unique works of art. .
Recycling and repurposing materials have always been part of his craft. In 2018 he moved to the Oregon coast to further pursue his artistic career.
2018-2025
Steve is the lead artist for Washed Ashore, an educational non-profit in North Bend OR, that builds and exhibits large sculptures made from marine debris. He apprenticed under and worked with Angela Hazeltine Pozzi, former Artistic Director, and Founder of Washed Ashore from 2018 until her departure in 2021 when he became the Lead Artist. He continues to build sculptures for Washed Ashore, creates his own art on the side and mentors others on marine debris art.
Steve's collective works have been viewed by millions of people at art galleries on the coast, the Coos Art Museum, malls, zoos, aquariums, and botanical gardens across the US and in Canada.
